Little Growers in the Maldives

Little Growers in Maldives is so far very successful.
Maradhoofeydhoo School: The first tomato is harvested. Each tomato weighs 100-120gram and they are selling the tomatos at the rate of Mrf35 (GBP1.4) per Kg. The school staff have bought all the harvest so far.
They have also harvested long beans from a single plant. Each bean had a length of 2ft and weighs more than 100gram per bean.
The cut out stems from the tomato plants were planted in the school yard in soil and is growing very well.

The tomato plants are growing very well and it is very successful.

10 Beans plants were transfered to 8 Ltr Pots in polytunnel on 6th April 2011. The Ec in the tank is at 1.6 and pH is 5.6

Little Growers had a busy day in setting up growing areas and easy2grow extension kits in Feydhoo school, the third school to join Little Growers in Maldives. A polytunnel was setup along with 10 easy2grow connection kits. The students planted 10 Long beans and 10 Tomato Sparta seeds.
During the setup process as in other school the children learned how to wash the coco, plant the seeds, and care for the polytunnels.

Little Growers in the Maldives

The Little Growers in Hithadhoo School planted 10 Long beans and 10 Tomato seeds. Now all the seeds have germinated.


The Little Growers in Hithadhoo School has finished polytunnel and easy2grow kit setup and has planted seeds on saturday. Tomato and Long beans were planted. Children who participated in this event were very happy and enthusiastic to be part of this program.

Little Growers in the Maldives

The official launching ceremony was held in Maradhoofeydhoo School on 11th March 2011. The event was well received by the school children, parents, teachers and the community. 

In the ceremony the LG in Maradhoofeydhoo school gave information on the work they have done so far. They also thanked Mahaadheebu Business Pvt Ltd, the official partner of LG in Maldives and the Local NGO the island community who is working with Mahaadheebu to roll out this program in Addu city. They thanked the LG in UK and AutoPot Global and specially the founder Jason Ralp Smith for his great contribution for this program.

The chief guest of the event was the Incharge of the Education Unit in South Province Ms Fathimath Naseer. She highlighted the importance of extra curricular and our door activities in shaping the childrens future. She urged the children and teachers to use the maximum benefit of the program. She also highlighted that LG is fully inline with the current government's education policy.

The LG was officially launched by planting a tomato plant and Long beans plant in 8Ltr pots by four students of Maradhoofeydhoo School.

The school management, teachers, Children and parents are very happy to get such an opportunity.

Hithadhoo School has joined the littlegrowers program in Maldives. The school is the second school to join this program. There was a training session for the students on 10th March 2011. The session was attended the many students and some teachers plus parents. They all showed great interest in this program and the AutoPot product. The students were very thankful to the littlegrowers founder Jason Ralph Smith.

Maldivian Littlegrowers in Maradhoofeydhoo school have planted Sparta tomato seeds. The seeds were planted in Root riot cubes. We have decided to hold a special ceremony to Launch this program in this school. The ceremony will be held on 11th March. We will invite the management and teachers plus few students from all the local schools and some of the officials in the city.

Maradhoofeydhoo School in Addu city became the first school to start Littlegrowers in Maldives. Thanks to Littlegrowers UK and Autopot global, specially Jason R. Smith and Heather Pearl for there continuous support.

The students and teachers of Maradhoofeydhoo school has wowed to show a good example to others. We had a training session for teachers. The training session was conducted by the official partner of Autopot and Littlegrowers in Maldives, Mahaadheebu Business Pvt. Ltd. A very good presentation was given on the basics of Hydroponics and the magic behind Autopot. All the children and teachers were very in ecstatic mood for the kind donation from Autopot, Littlegrowers Uk and Mahaadheebu Business Pvt. Ltd. One students said that she can't wait to see the plants growing.
