Get Growing Day 8th October 2011
Posted by: Crawley Ridge Junior School on Oct 17, 2011
On Saturday 8th October we held our Autumn Get Growing Day. Parents, children and staff worked hard on a number of jobs throughout the school grounds. We re-laid the spider watering system and replanted the raised vegetable beds with winter lettuce, winter peas, cabbages, onions and garlic. Elsewhere a team worked hard to clear the banks of thistles rescuing a number of frogs and relocating them to the pond area. The wildflower meadow was also cleared of thistles and the wildflowers we had grown in the polytunnel were planted there. The bamboo was cut back and the last job was to plant the strawberry runners into new compost ready for next year. All in all, a good day’s work!
