Hillbourne School and Nursery

Well it's been a long time since I last updated the site but now that the spring is approaching new optimism about the garden arrives.
Over the winter we have kept the garden ticking over and the mild weather has meant that Garlic and Onion bulbs have done really well.
One new focus for the new year is the idea of a Community Orchard. We have been talking to various growers and specialists regards planting.

As the spring starts to pick up speed we are launching to brilliant community projects in the school garden.
Firstly, we are going to work with a local Day Care Centre who work with adults with learning disabilities. They currently come into school to run the tuck shop but now they will helping in the garden and taking over some of the veg plots. Hopefully, this years strawberry crop will be sold on the tuck shop.
Secondly, Barclays Bank will be joining us for a community day where 14 of their employees will be coming in to help with some major landscaping work in the garden. It is hoped that a wildlife pond, new paths, sensory gardens and a bottle greenhouse will be built.
