  • Connaught Junior School created a new blog entry, Gardening Club...

The children have been really busy during Gardening Club which takes place after school on Thursdays. They have planted a range of crops for the winter season including: elephant garlic, broad beans, lettuce and cabbage.

Below are some of the children’s views about Gardening Club:

Izzy: Gardening club is really fun because you get to plant, grow and water things.

Freddie : I really enjoy getting mucky and I like planting and watching the crops grow.

Angel: I like taking the produce home that we have grown and having the facilities to grow things in our school.

Georgia: I like planting new crops and getting nice and dirty!

Thea: I like planting the seeds the best because your hands get really muddy.

Sophie: It is great because you get to see the food grow!

Molly: Gardening is really fun and we get to do lots of things, we also get really grubby.
Maddy: The club is great because we get to go home and cook some of the produce we have grown.

Grace: You get to plant lots of food and you learn new skills. I have even got a gardening patch at home now!

We ran a competition to design a pumpkin, and the winners would receive a pumpkin carved with their design. Check out the fantastic creations.

  • The children really enjoyed the pumpkin with their roast dinners at Connaught. When they were asked by another pupil what they thought, this is what some of them said:

Abby: I really liked it, it was very juicy.

Tate: Delicious, I would definitely have it again.

    Georgia: Lovely

    Chloe: I liked it

    Holly: It was scrummy

    Ryan: Sweet and nice

    Olly: I liked the flavour

Georgia: It tasted really nice. I’ve had it before and I didn’t like it, but I do now.

    Jess: I loved it.

  • Connaught Junior School created a new blog entry, September News...

An awful lot has happened since we last blogged. The children have been having a fantastic time. We harvested the last of the summer crops and sold them in the local village. This was a fantastic day and lots of the parents supported the school and brought some of the produce. Connaught made £110 to buy new seeds for the winter and we are planning on improving the garden area even further.

We have finally harvested our massive pumpkins before the winter frost. We really struggled to lift them! The children have been really busy creating designs to be cut into the pumpkins to take one of them home. I wonder who is going to win in each year group?!?!?
